Port-Douglas is situated on a narrow piece of land between the Dickson bay and the Pacific Ocean. The Great Barrier Reef is very close to this part of continent. During the marine ebb water falls back, showing all the treasures of Great Barrier Reef. Many luxurious excursion ships can stay in Port-Douglas peacefully. Catamarans leave on one-day excursions on Barrier Reef, where tourists view its wonderful depths either submerging in an ocean or through the transparent bottom of the ship.

These moist banks are often visited by thousands of butterflies. They fly among midget trees and giant tree ferns, between a curtain from lianas and large trees.

Although Port-Douglas is a wonderful place for active rest, some time ago it was just a small sleeping outpost on the border of civilization on the far tropical north. But today, after other people found out these lands, several huge tourist companies invested millions of dollars into building there many luxurious hotels. Other ones followed them, and now round the bay we can see a vast shopping center, golf fields, landing grounds for helicopters and, of course, “the valley oh honor” – a valley of coconut trees, which is 6 kilometers long.

It is very interesting to visit a museum of shipwrecks – it tells about the most famous shipwrecks, which happened before, showing the true danger of sailing in the waters, where the reefs are. And also you can get unforgettable pleasure of visiting a giant Rainforest Habitat, where earlier used to be the sugar-cane plantations: many budgies sweep over you altogether, like a wind, going out from the tropical forest, which is growing from the other side of the building. Here you can meet various species of Australian birds, butterflies, bright as flowers, bats, and white herons flying in the park…. Here you’ll meet the strangest bird called cassowary.

The biggest virgin Australian forest stretches from Mossman to Cooktown. Mossman is a city in the far north of Australia, where sugar cane is technically processed. The road from Port-Douglas to Mossman will take thirty minutes, and it is the most beautiful one in whole Australia. In the Mossman valley at the foot of majestic mountain Demy stretch nice green plantations of sugar cane. The Mossman city itself is situated not far from river Daintry, which is so adored by crocodiles. Next to it you’ll se Daintry National Park with its magic forest. It is one of the oldest natural preserves in the world. The humidity makes all the plants more magnificent: giant trees, from which the lianas are hanging down, make up a vault, under which palms, ferns and orchids grow.

Thus, Port-Douglas is a perfect place, where the modern reality and magnificent jungles are combined, so don’t miss your chance to visit it!
