The universities of Australia take leading positions in the Pacific region, their diplomas are acknowledged all over the world. Nearly 650 thousand of students study in universities of this country. The list of only bachelor programs includes more than 2000 positions.
Sydney and Melbourne, the biggest Australian cities, offer the best choice of state and private educational establishments. For example, Sydney and its suburbs have six universities altogether. What about specialties? The wide programs (nearly 75) in the field of design are offered by UNSW.
The oldest Australian university – the university of Sydney – was founded in 1851. The most prestige higher institutes are also: University of New South Wales, UNSW; University of Melbourne; University of Queensland and many others.
Learning to get the degree of a bachelor occupies three (ordinary degree) or four (honored degree) years. Some fields of education like medicine or engineering are supposed to last for four or even six years.
Lately the popularity of “double degrees” has widened: for example, business and law, information technologies and management. These programs take more time to learn: five or six years. A Master’s degree can be got in one – two years. The highest academic qualification is awarded after a deep study of theoretical course and implementation of research work. All this occupies three years.
Many Australian universities (especially “new”, who lately got their status) are different from “usual” ones. Some of them have a right to appropriate only a bachelor degree and dispose a few number of faculties, which prepare specialists in claimed fields like business, law, engineering.
The feature of Australian high education system is well-developed sector of distance programs: 10 from each 100 students educate at home.
